The Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) is hosting this event to present key findings of a study on gender in the hydropower sector funded by the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP). The study, which is being done in partnership with the Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET), explores gender employment gaps and provides recommendations to overcome some of the barriers women face in the sector. The hydropower sector employs around two million people globally, and it is expected to grow if we are going to meet our climate goals. Women have been a minority in hydropower, but this is slowly changing. Â
Highlighting the barriers women face to entry and advancement, this session will provide concrete, practical recommendations to address them. Representatives from various hydropower operators will share their perspectives on the issue, including best practice solutions to attracting and retaining women in their companies.
