Bin YU

Deputy Chief Economist, CTG

Ms Bin Yu is Deputy Chief Economist of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) and has decades of working experience in Chinese government authorities at national, provincial and municipal level, and in enterprises, where she has gained over 30 years of managerial and practical expertise for technology import, project development and construction, bidding and tendering management, strategic investment and cooperation in both traditional and renewable energy sectors, hydropower in particular. Ms Yu holds a Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in civil engineering from Tsinghua University.

She worked in China’s Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power and Ministry of National Energy from 1987 to 1996, and was responsible for international loans for several hydropower projects including Tianshengqiao and Wuqiangxi Â鶹ÊÓƵ Stations.

From 1996 to 2012, Ms Yu held a range of positions in CTG, from President of China Three Gorges International Tendering Co., Ltd. to Vice President of China Three Gorges International Corporation Director of Office of Strategic Investment and Cooperation, and Deputy Chief Economist of CTG, when she was deeply involved in the development, investment, construction and tendering of the Three Gorges Project (TGP), corporate mergers and acquisitions, and international investment and cooperation. She was responsible for international procurement and contract execution of TGP’s equipment and service.

As an active member of the hydropower community, she served as the Deputy General Secretary of the First Council Board of Chinese National Committee on Large Dams (CHINCOLD).

Ms Yu served successively as Deputy Mayor of Yibin City and Deputy Director General of Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce from 2012 to 2022, and foreign-related business was one of her major administration responsibilities.
