Serengeti Energy

Serengeti Energy is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) that develops, builds, operates, and owns small to medium-sized renewable energy power plants. Serengeti Energy is one of the few companies in this sector that intervenes throughout the project value cycle: from project identification and feasibility studies to financing, construction, commissioning, and operations.

With three main offices in Cape Town, Dakar, and Nairobi, Serengeti Energy operates nine power plants: three hydropower plants in South Africa, three hydropower plants in Uganda, one solar PV plant in Malawi, one hydropower plant in Rwanda, and one solar PV plant in Sierra Leone.

Our mission is to develop, build, own, and operate small to medium-sized renewable energy power plants to support sustainable economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa. Building on our vision to be the leading renewable energy power producer in sub-Saharan Africa, Serengeti Energy is constantly expanding its operations in the region. We currently have one hydropower plant under construction in South Africa, over 75 MW in late-stage development, and an additional 100 MW in the development pipeline.

"Serengeti Energy owns and operates hydropower plants across the African continent. The benefits that sustainable and affordable hydropower brings is clear in all our markets: There is no doubt that hydropower is key to a stable power system. As a developer we rely heavily in the ΒιΆΉΚΣơ’s sustainability guidelines to help us assess and manage social and environmental risks and impacts in all our activities.” Anton-Louis Olivier, Chief Executive Officer Serengeti Energy.
