About Bechtel

Bechtel helps its customers to deliver infrastructure projects that create a lasting positive legacy. Projects that create jobs, grow economies, get us closer to net zero, protect U.S. and allied interests, tackle critical environmental challenges, protect people and the planet, and accelerate progress to make the world a cleaner, greener, safer place.

Bechtel offers the complete spectrum of engineering, procurement, and construction services for the hydropower – from concept to detailed design, fully-integrated self-perform construction, and start-up. Its industry-leading construction expertise, together with its integrated EPC self-perform model, strategic partnerships, and proven experience in project delivery means it can offer shorter delivery schedules and greater certainty of outcomes for customers. By controlling the critical path, integrating teams, reducing interfaces, and managing project risks, Bechtel has reduced the time it takes to successfully deliver projects for our customers in the most challenging of environments. Across a variety of different sectors, it has helped its customers achieve millions of dollars of total installed cost savings — including significant reductions in bulk material quantities, as well as equipment costs and construction direct and indirect costs — through value engineering and optimized designs.

Since 1898, Bechtel have helped customers to complete more than 25,000 projects in 160 countries in all seven continents. Bechtel have over 80 years of hydroelectric experience reaching back to the construction of the Hoover Dam and have built 105 dams worldwide.

As part of their global commitment to reach net zero, Bechtel are using their expertise to develop sustainable hydropower solutions for communities around the world, including the Keeyask Generating Station in Manitoba, Canada, which began generating clean renewable energy to power 400,000 homes in 2022. Additionally, initial work has begun on the Skavica hydropower plant in Albania.

The Keeyask Generation Project’s seven turbine units provides enough renewable energy to power 400,000 homes.

“A sustainable future is today’s global goal and clean, renewable, and reliable hydro power has a significant role in us achieving it. Over the decades, we have partnered with our customers to build 50 hydroelectric plants, producing the equivalent to 80% of the U.K.'s entire power demand. One of our most iconic projects, the Hoover Dam, built in the 1930s, is still producing more than 4 billion kilowatts of power each year, serving 1.3 million people.” - Shaun Kenny, Infrastructure President at Bechtel

Bechtel serves the Energy, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Security & Environmental and Mining & Metals markets. Their services span from initial planning and investment through to start-up operations.
