The planet’s premier hydropower event is coming to Bali to discuss the vital role hydropower must play in ‘powering sustainable growth’.

“This Congress is the greatest single opportunity for global decision-makers and the sustainable hydropower sector to agree specific actions to put hydropower at the forefront of the clean energy transition”, says Malcolm Turnbull, former Prime Minister of Australia and �鶹��Ƶ Board Member.

Registration has opened for the 2023 World �鶹��Ƶ Congress, the world’s foremost conference gathering hydropower experts, influencers and innovators from across the world to advance sustainable hydropower.

This year’s Congress in Bali, Indonesia, will take place under the leadership of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, and will be co-hosted by Indonesia’s electricity provider PLN and the �鶹��Ƶ (�鶹��Ƶ).

Over 150 speakers will address more than 30 events between 31 October – 2 November 2023 at the Congress which will provide a stage for high-level policy statements, recommendations and commitments to influence the global growth of sustainable hydropower.

Setting the stage for the future of sustainable hydropower

Bringing together more than 1200 participants, this year’s World �鶹��Ƶ Congress will provide a space for the sustainable hydropower community to come together at a vital time in the clean energy transition. At the Congress key deliverables will be taken to COP28 and beyond, including:

-         Reaching consensus on policy and finance recommendations for advancing the clean energy transition

-         Breaking down the barriers to the development of renewables by advancing policy and investment driven solutions

-         Demonstrating how complementary renewable technologies can be harnessed to fill the hole left by coal

-         Highlighting the immense untapped hydropower potential that exists in many regions of the world, particularly Asia and Africa.

Programme agenda

This year’s Congress comprises of a wide ranging programme with sessions on topics such as climate resilience, unlocking markets and finance, hydropower modernisation, sustainability and more.
