Workshop: Developing independent hydropower projects
Download the programme
Governments and decision-makers are increasingly turning to renewable resources to spur development and improve livelihoods. To seize this opportunity, a larger number of stakeholders must be mobilised and involved, including independent power producers (IPPs), but also social and environmental experts, financiers, international institutions as well as local communities and entrepreneurs.
In recent years, private investment in the power sector has continued to grow. This is particularly the case in Africa.
Most countries in the region now have IPPs as part of the power generation sector. These IPPs cover a range of technologies from fossil fuels to solar PV, but also hydropower. Â鶹ÊÓƵ IPPs are now found in East and Southern Africa and a number are under development in West Africa.
This workshop is designed to bring together a community of experienced developers, professionals and experts to explore opportunities and solutions for further hydropower development, with a particular focus on Africa.
